idrawdigital is an online comic book tutorial and illustration resource site. If you’re looking on how to improve your illustration skills using the computer, or if you’re trying to establish a webcomic and need some guidance, idrawdigital has the tools to help.

Who is this Drezz guy?

I’ve been an artist all my life. When I was young, I used anything and everything that left a mark to create bodies of work. This love of creating art has stayed with me my entire life, and I spend most of my free time honing my skills and learning new things to extend my knowledge and fulfill my love of drawing. About 10 years ago, I was given my first PC and I used it to create some work, but I had a hard time adjusting to the technology and the restraints of hardware. As the years passed, advances in technology suddenly made things more accessible for artists to realize their artistic visions using digital media.

Who am I?

From the minute I could pick up a crayon, I knew I wanted to be an artist. Most kids wanted to be astronauts, race car drivers, athletes – I knew what I was destined to be the minute I made my first mark. Its something that has always come natural to me – I can’t explain it. Some people call it talent, I just call it being persistent and attentive. At an early age I was drawing cars, people, animals, landscapes, and as I got older and started to see things and learn about the science behind drawing, my skills increased. I entered high school, and the arts and crafts assignments from elementary school turned into lessons about composition, history and cultural influences, theories, perspectives and fundamentals of art. These lessons guided me and solidified the life decision I wanted to make in regards to my career. I enrolled in a Visual Arts and Graphic Design program, earned my degree as a graphic designer and plunged headfirst into the world of design. I’ve been in the field for 10 years – I’ve worked as an illustrator, a production artist, print designer, media designer, animator and now I currently act as a creative director for a local firm, and I work on a comic book series in my spare time.

What is my goal?

My goal is to empower comic book artists and illustrators with some of the knowledge that was passed down to me, so they can refine their talents. I created idrawdigital to bring provide comic book artists with resources to learn more about the skills needed to produce and develop their own work for the masses online.

I’ve been working for 10 years now and I’ve put a lot of personal projects on hold in order to pay the bills, make ends meet, be more responsible, start a  family, etc etc and you get the picture. I came to the realization that time goes by very fast, so you have to make opportunities happen. Everyone gets dragged in by the undertow of real life and its menial, mediocre routines that offer no room for personal enjoyment and advancement – both creatively and financially. The key is to jump in and do it- I hope this site will help motivate you to do so.
