Dani Jones, illustrator extraordinaire and author of the website DaniDraws.com, shares this handy chart and some instructions on how to create 50 different facial expressions.

DrawFurry – How to Draw Facial Expressions


If you’re into anthro style comics, check out this brief primer by Kelly over at DrawFurry. There are some explanations on key features that can give your faces some intensity.

Lackadaisy: Expressions


Tracy J. Butler has an amazing overview on the importance of facial expressions in comics. Read this thorough guide and you’ll understand that you need more than just a few simple lines to give your characters the personality they deserve.

    Nice Charts I always find these charts useful when drawing different facial expressions. However if there is a certain facial expression I need I will take out a hand held mirror and physically make the facial expression I need. Much easier in my opinion because you tend to get into the characters mindset a lot better.
